Monthly Company Meeting May's Company Meeting is Thursday, May 1st @ 20:00 hours. Look forward to seeing more people coming out this year.
4x4 Truck Pull Cecilton 1st Annnual 4x4 Truck Pull will be held on May 10th at the Cecilton Fire Carnival Grounds.
Craft Show May, 3rd. Cecilton VFD will be hosting a Craft Show in the Cecilton Banquet Hall on Saturday, May 3rd.
Pumps Training Sunday Mar. 9 @ 1300 hours. A MFRI instructor will be coming down to teach the class. Please arrive early to the station. All drivers are urged to attend.

February 3, 2008 -- Vehicle Fire Training
MFRI Instructor Dave Duff hosted a vehicle fire training class at the carnival grounds on Sunday. Members from Cecilton, Galena and Hacks Point all met at Station 1 for a brief safety lecture before heading to the carnival grounds for the class. Members learned the proper techniques and safety issues when dealing with vehicle fires. We would all like to thank Dave for providing his time and knowledge.

January Fire/Rescue Incidents:
January 28, 2008 -- MVC on Crystal Beach Road
Just after 0800 hours CVFC along with CC Paramedic 3 were alerted for single vehicle MVC. Rescue Captain 1, Ben Dixon, arrived with single vehicle off the roadway and 3 patients. Rescue 1 was held on station and Ambulances 191 and 192 were requested to the scene. 191 transported one priority 3 and 192 transported 2 priority 3 patients to Union Hospital. Operator of vehicle misjudged the turn and struck a large embankment on the shoulder of Crystal Beach Road. Scene was turned over to MSP around 0835 hours.

January 13, 2008 -- Live Burn Training
At 0800 members from Galena, an Engine and Tanker from Cecilton, the Quint from Sudlersville and the Tanker from Kennedyville met on Olivet Circle in Galena to train in basic skills. A large number of new members from Galena as well as a few from the other stations practiced skills in ground ladders, forced entry, ventilation, overhaul, and handling hoselines. The truck crew got some practice and training in Truck operations and the drivers got some practice in pump operations and water shuttles. Story taken from Galena's website. (www.galenavfc.org.)

January 10, 2008 -- State Highway Yard Dump Truck Fire
Just after 1800 hrs, CVFC along with a tanker from Sta. 9 Hacks Point were alerted for a working truck fire with exposure to a building at the State Highway Administration Yard outside of town. Chief 1 Mike Frey was the first on location and advised of a fully involved tri-axle dump truck with extension to a 2nd dump truck. The initial alert brought Engine 116, Rescue 1 and Tanker 9. Engine 116 and Rescue 1 arrived and each pulled a 1 ¾” line to begin suppression. Tanker 9 arrived shortly later and supplied the engine. Due to a fuel spill, the Cecil County Haz-Mat Team was requested and responded to contain the spill and pump off the remaining of the fuel tanks. Ambulance 191 responded and stood by at the scene but was not utilized. The incident was placed under control at 1826 hours and the scene was turned over to the State Fire Marshall with all units clearing by 2030 hours.

January 7, 2008 -- MVC - Van vs. Utility Pole
At 1630 hours CVFC was alerted for an MVC on Augustine Herman Hwy north of Town Limits. Chief Mike Frey was the first to arrive and advised of a single van vs. a utility pole with 1 patient. Rescue 1, Ambulance 191 and CC Paramedic 3 were the first out on the street followed by Engine 116 and Ambulance 192. The van was found to be traveling southbound when the driver lost control and left the roadway and struck the utility pole. Ambulance 191 transported the operator to Union Hospital and all units were cleared the scene by 1725 hours. State Highway and Delmarva Power also responded to the scene to assist.

January 4, 2008 -- Assistance to Firefighters Grant (Round 22)
CVFC started the new year off with a bang. We were informed that we will be receiving $118,750.00. The grant will be used to purchase new MSA packs for all the equipment. Well it only took a few years and the help from a professional grant writer but we finally got one. Congrats to all the other recipients in round 22.

CVFC would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. 2007 was a good year, CVFC ran its most Fire/Rescue Calls ever. We would like to thank all of our mutual aid companies for all the assistance and we look forward to another good year with you guys.

December 31, 2007 -- Farewell to a Great Friend
It is with the deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Thomas "Tommy" G. O'Neal, Sr. Tommy was a life member who gave 60 years to the fire service and his community. Tommy was a fixture around the firehouse and was an important asset several years back when the firehouse we being refurbished. Tommy spent every day of the week at least 8 hours a day overseeing the progress of the building. Tommy served in just about every position of the fire company and had just finished his 2 year term as Board of Director. The viewing will be held on Thursday, January 3rd from 1800 to 2100 hours and the service will be on Friday, January 4th at 1100 hours. Services will be held at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L Schaech in Galena MD. We would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to his family. "TAZ" -- We miss you and you will always be in our hearts.

December 6, 2007 -- Annual Election of Officers
The annual elections were held at the company meeting with the following results: Brian Corbett -- Fire Chief, Bobby Plato -- Chief Engineer, Michael Cooper -- President, Paul Obenshain -- V. President, Christy Biggs -- Treasurer, Leta O'Neal -- Secretary, Dede Pardee -- Membership Secretary, the following four won a two-year term as Board of Director: Robert Dixon Jr., Dede Pardee, T. Jay Bolton and Clay Weisenberg. Brian Corbett will announce his fire line officers at the January Meeting. Congrats to all and good luck in the new year.
